Updating Command Anti-Virus

If your version is at least 4.92.0 and/or your definition files are earlier than the listed dates, you will need to update the program and/or definition files. First, close all open applications.

1. On the main window for Command Anti-Virus, click once on Update Now...

A window will pop up asking you to Select an update from this list. If your version is current, you will only see the Virus definintion files xxxxx.

2. Click OK once. Now a window will pop up showing the download and installation routine in progress. While the download is in progress, carefully click on the main window for Command Anti-Virus and close it. It will most likely be located directly behind the download window. DO NOT close the download window. If you do not close the main window, a message will pop up during the installation asking you to close the main window. If this happens, click on the main window, close it, and the select RETRY.

3. (For definition file updates only, version updates go to step 4) Once the update is complete, the windows will dissappear and you will see your Windows desktop. To make sure you got all the updates, click on Update one more time. If you are updated to the current version and definition files, you will see the following message:

Otherwise select the update (step 1) from the list and click once on OK to repeat the update process. Continue until there are no more updates to download.

Please note: If you only have to update your definition files, you will not need to continue past this step as there will not be an installation routine to execute.
4. The installation routine will be the same for Win 95/98/Me and XP users. Some Win95 users may be asked to reboot their computers and start the installation again. This is normal.

Click once on Next at the Welcome Screen.

Click once on Next at the Readme Information Screen (read if you want).

Accept the license agreement and click once on Next.

5. Select Typical install, and click once on Next.

6. Several scroll bars will appear as the process completes. You will be prompted with an Uninstall Options Setup Screen. Make sure all three are checked and click Next.

Again, you may see several scroll bars. Once they are finished, click once on Finish.

You may be prompted to Restart the Computer for Changes to take effect. If so, click Cancel or Later to restart after completing step 7. Once the computer has restarted, continue at step 8.

7. If you are connected to the network (you should be), a Setup Automatic Update Now window appears. Click once on OK.

Under Preferred Site:, click once on the drop down arrow and select USA http site. Click Site Credentials.

By the User Name, enter: kvsmith1 (all lower case). By the Password, enter: valcity98 (all lower case). Click OK.

Look at the top of the window and select Updates. Click each drop down box and select Automatically download and install. The Product Upgrades box should be Download new files and then inform me.

You have now finished the basic installation. If you were asked to restart the computer earlier, please do so now and start again at step 8 once the computer has restarted.
8. All you have left is to input some basic settings to keep your Command Anti-Virus running. Double click the Yellow C in the lower right hand corner of your screen.

Once the main Command Anti-Virus window opens, click once on Scan Hard Drives. Now, click once on Properties.

When the Properties window opens, select the Advanced Properties tab.

Make sure the Scan only specified file extensions box is not checked. Click once to uncheck it.

Now select the Schedule tab.

Click to Enable Scheduling and make the time to scan 12:00.

Click OK and you are finished! Your Command Anti-Virus window should look similar to this...
